Sales Training

NVR’s basic Sales Training Program takes approximately 10-12 weeks to complete. It consists of 10 days of centralized classroom training, supplemented with extensive training in the employee’s Division. Among the topics covered in this program are:

  • The Sales Process
  • Product Knowledge
  • Contract Basics
  • Financing
  • Fair Housing
  • Selling Skills
  • Site Plans and Blueprints
  • Customer Service and Warranties
  • Prospecting and Goal Setting
  • On an ongoing basis, additional sales training is provided at the Corporate, Regional and Divisional level. Training topics range from Sales Negotiating, to Construction Knowledge for Sales, to Closing Skills.

    Production Training

    Using a combination of classroom, self-study, and "in-the-field" training, the Production Training Program (PTP) is intended to provide the basic knowledge and skills necessary to supervise homes under construction. Participants should expect to spend between 18 and 24 months in the program. Several quizzes and "in-field" demonstrations are used to evaluate progress. A final exam and field proficiency testing are required. Among the topics covered in this program are:

  • Site Plans and Blueprints
  • House Setting
  • Excavation and Grading
  • Footers
  • Foundations and Waterproofing
  • Concrete, Radon, and Drain Tile
  • Framing and Roofing
  • Insulation and Energy Conservation
  • Customer Relations and Service
  • Time Management
  • Subcontractor Relations
  • Community Appearance
  • Pre-settlement inspections
  • Safety

  • Ongoing training for Production personnel is also provided at the Corporate, Regional, and Divisional level. Typical topics include Site Management, Establishing and Controlling Costs, Construction Safety, and Effective Subcontractor Management.

    Management Training
