  EMPLOYEE TESTIMONIALS

     Project Manager

Take us through a typical day on the job. What are the highlights.
I arrive at the job site around 7:00 AM, open up and walk the houses. Then I meet with the subcontractors, answer questions, and problem-solve issues. I conduct customer service meetings or meet with county inspectors … make phone calls to subcontractors … or return calls. At the end of the day, I walk the houses again to follow up on the day's work and make a list of the work to be completed the next day.

Tell us about your most memorable day on the job.
The day I was promoted to Project Manager. It was special because I had worked so hard to get to the position and finally made it.

Specifically, how does NVR support your career advancement?
Mostly through the assessment process. Managers do a great job of assessing your career goals. They also work with you to give you the tools you need to get there in your time frame. Training is also big. There is easy access to whatever training tools are needed to develop in your career. NVR's training resources are second to none.

What would you say is the ONE thing you enjoy most about working at NVR? Why?
I would say it's a combination of two things: the freedom and the responsibility that comes with being in charge of a job site where you have an average of $5 to 10 million dollars of homes under construction. Combine that with the knowledge that you have the support and backing of a company like NVR.

Is there anything about NVR and/or your particular position that you would want job candidates to know?
What they might find especially attractive is the culture of the company. Everyone gets along, and we do many activities together, from softball and golf outings, to trips and weekend getaways.

Talk about…

Advancement Potential.
Advancement potential affects me every day because I am working hard to be considered for promotion. I definitely think it would be a drawing point for job candidates, because people go to college to be successful in life.

Freedom.
The reason I took the job is because I did not want to work in an office cubicle with a supervisor watching my every move.

What would you tell someone to convince them to choose a career in homebuilding? What would you tell someone to convince them to choose NVR?
I would tell them that if they are looking for a rewarding job where every day offers new challenges, then homebuilding is for them. They will enjoy the independence of running their own site without constant supervision from managers. They will also enjoy working for a company that takes care of its employees, both through compensation and career opportunities.

Do you participate in social, recreational or athletic events with your colleagues?
I participate in as many events as possible. Softball is great. The league is very fun and competitive. It also gives us a chance to interact with people from other divisions of the company that we don't see as often. I also make it a point to join our divisional winter ski trips, summer weekend trips, and golf outings.
