     Sharon
     Division Manager/Vice President
     Towson University
     Ryan Homes

Sharon has been with Ryan Homes over 18 years and has held various positions including Sales and Marketing Representative, Sales Trainer, Sales Manager and General Manager. She is now the Division Manager of one of our newest divisions in the Baltimore, MD area.

Take us through a typical day on the job. What are the highlights.
My job is multifaceted. I could be out in the field touring new communities and the status of infrastructure, meeting with our Project Managers and reviewing homes under construction, reviewing the stages of construction and accessing upcoming settlements. Often times I am in meeting with developers and engineers understanding the approval process and timeframes for the marketing of new communities. We focus a lot of attention on our sales and marketing side of the business. I could be attending a sales meeting and establishing the needs for new lot releases, marketing incentives, pricing. Visiting our existing communities would be an opportunity to talk with our sales staff. Topics may include discussing prospects, projected sales, inventory needs, model merchandising, or community development standards. Much of our time is spent working through situations and problem solving to satisfy our customers needs.

What person at NVR inspires you?

I feel fortunate to work for such a great company.

What would you tell someone to convince them to choose a career in homebuilding? What would you tell someone to convince them to choose NVR?

There are such a wide variety of opportunities within the homebuilding industry that can be catered to employee’s desires. There is the production side to our business that provides the outdoor environment and the rewards of seeing a piece of property for example a farm, and watch the development of the property to point of being able to seek the tangible benefits and rewards of building a home on that property and seeing it evolve into a neighborhood from beginning to end.
There are the rewards of sales and marketing and interacting with customers to uncover customer’s needs and determining a home to satisfy those needs. Working through financial programs that provide affordability and peace of mind. Most importantly the rewards of being a part of the most important decision a person will make in their life and participating in fulfilling their dream.
The Management opportunities provide autonomy and entrepreneurial spirit that allow you to train and develop a staff of employees through a leadership style that promotes teams working together to satisfy individual goals and corporate objectives.
