  EMPLOYEE TESTIMONIALS

     Erin
     Sales and Marketing Representative
     University of Maryland, 2001
     Ryan Homes

Erin has a lot of energy as a Sales Representative. We caught up with her in between customer appointments and asked her a few questions.

What is your usual day like as a Sales Representative?
A typical day at the job involves two or three appointments with customers, and lots of follow-up phone calls. All in all, it's a balancing act to manage my time, and it's very fast-paced. For new customers, I do an initial presentation which gives them an overview of the community and the different types of homes. Then, I ask questions to find out how we can meet their needs. Each customer has their own unique story.

Tell us about your best day on the job? What made it so special?
It was my first settlement. After being promoted to Sales & Marketing Representative, I was seeing my customer through the entire process from their first visit, through the sale and construction process, to finally moving into their dream home. It was so rewarding to see the family I had worked with for several months accomplish their goal and to see them so happy.

Specifically, how does NVR support your career advancement?
Constant training! My initial training as a Sales & Marketing Associate involved a 16-month mentoring program with a Senior Sales & Marketing Representative. Since then, I've been to countless training classes over the past 2 years, specializing in blueprints, site plans, sales skills, negotiation, and other topics.

What would you say is the one thing you enjoy most about working at NVR?
I feel surrounded by supportive people including Senior Sales Representatives who share their expertise and advice when needed; Sales Managers who are always accessible and who keep their doors open; and Project Managers who generously lend a hand around the models and patiently answer all construction questions. We are a true team, which makes for a relaxed environment and an inspiring place to work.

What would you tell someone to convince them to choose a career in homebuilding, and a career with NVR?
The homebuilding industry is wonderful if you're looking for variety in your responsibilities, with involvement that can include customer relations, the mortgage process, construction, and sales. It's very rewarding, because you are helping customers realize their dreams, whether it's buying and building their first townhouse or condo, or moving into the home they've always dreamed of.

About NVR?
It is the place to be if you're going to work in the homebuilding business. We are known throughout the industry for having the best training program around. And you can be confident of NVR's phenomenal track record of business success over the years. It's hard coming right out of college to pick an industry and a company you want to work for, but you'll be making a smart decision by choosing NVR.

Do you participate in social, recreational or athletic events with your colleagues?
Ryan Homes participates in company softball games, dinners, parties and trips. There's always something going on. My favorite social activity with colleagues is going out to a nice dinner, and spending time outside the office with the great group of people I work with. The company is always reminding us how much our hard work is appreciated.
